Policies, Procedures and Pricing for Private Music Lessons
The South End Fine Arts Academy at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church provides weekly private piano. As the need arises, we will provide private lessons for other instruments. All instruction will be adapted to the musical level of the student. Private lessons will be in half-hour and one-hour blocks. Students interested in private lessons must be six years of age or older and must own or rent their instrument so that practicing can occur throughout the week. The South End Fine Arts Academy does not provide instruments.
Student Supervision
All children under the age of 12 must be escorted into the South End Fine Arts Academy by a responsible adult and remain with the responsible adult until the child is with the instructor for their lesson. For children 12 years and older, a responsible adult must drop-off and pick-up the student in a timely manner. The South End Fine Arts Academy is not responsible for the student before or after their assigned lesson time.
Lesson Protocol
It is the student’s responsibility to go to his or her lesson at the appropriately scheduled time. Parents are welcome to remain in the reception area or in the studio during the student’s lesson. If a student is tardy, his or her lesson will not be extended past their originally scheduled lesson time.
Make-Up Lessons & Cancellations
Students will pay for the lessons at the beginning of each month, for the amount of lessons that should be taught for that month. In the event a lesson must be canceled, students should notify the teacher as well as the Director. For a missed lesson to be excused, the teacher must be contacted 24 hours in advance (except in emergency cases). Excused absences include (but are not limited to):
- Illnesses
- Vacations
- Emergency situations (death, hospitalization, etc.)
Students should make every effort to contact their teacher in advance. Because we are Christ-centered organization, we will extend “grace” to everyone. However, excuses such as (but not limited to) too much homework, lack of practicing during the previous week, being too tired, etc. are considered unexcused absences. The student (or parent) is required to pay the teachers for all unexcused absences and these lessons are not required to be made up.

The fee for lessons is $100 per month (per child). This cost covers four lessons and must be paid at the first of each month. There will be no Individual makeup lessons or credit given for missed lessons. However, we will offer
Families that choose to pay in full (nine months) will receive one individual makeup lesson in addition to the group class.
